Dolphins Guidelines

Updated Arun dolphins guidelines.

Guidelines for our members main carers

Our aim is to provide a safe and friendly environment for people of any or disability to swim for therapy or enjoyment.

To ensure everyone continues to have a good time with their Dolphin family we expect our members main carers (carers/support workers/parents) to ensure the following is adhered to.

  • All pool users shower before entering the pool.
  • Mobile phones are not to be used by main carers during swim sessions, it is important for those agencies to be fully engaged with, and aware of, their clients at all times.
  • No one should be taking photos or recording videos during any Dolphins sessions. At times we (Dolphin helpers) may take photos for our website/Facebook, these will only be of those members who have signed a disclaimer.
  • Main carers are solely responsible for those members in their care before/during/after their Dolphin session. Our helpers are volunteers and not responsible for those in your care in or out of the pool.
  • Main Carers are required to be in the pool with their non-swimming members or poolside with their swimming members. If you have any concerns about those in your care, you must be in the pool with them.
  • Helpers are unable to assist with any part of dressing or undressing our members.
  • No inappropriate touching should happen in the safe space we have created. If this behaviour is brought to the attention of any main carer, we expect that issue to be addressed immediately. If necessary, the individual concerned should be removed from the area.
  • As the changing area is unisex and members of the public are also using the facilities, main carers are responsible for monitoring behaviour, ensuring no inappropriate or sexualised behaviour takes place in this environment. This ensures both Dolphin members and the public are provided with dignified changing space. If you need to use the group changing area this can be arranged.
  • Respect other members/main carers/helpers and other members of the public.
  • Balls may be thrown, not punched.
  • Have fun – our sessions are about fun for members, their main carers, and our helpers.

Equality and Diversity Statement

Dolphins take the responsibility under the Equality Act 2010 very seriously and we take this opportunity of reminding all staff and members of the following:

  • Dolphins will not tolerate any language or behaviour which impacts the physical and or emotional well-being of any other individual using our facilities.
  • Anyone found in breach of the above will be asked to leave the site and may well be removed from membership.
